Linen Floor Lamp – Russet Mango Shade, Reading Corner & Living Room

A floor lamp whose shade is linen in Russet Mango, a warm red-brown sitting somewhere between rust and terracotta. Colored fabric on a floor lamp changes a room twice over. Unlit, it is a block of warm color standing at roughly shoulder height. Lit, it tints the light passing through it, so the whole corner takes on the temperature of the shade.

That tinting is a property of the weave and the dye, not of the bulb behind it. Linen is a loose and slightly irregular weave, so light coming through it is broken up rather than delivered evenly, and a dyed linen passes warmer light than a white one would from the same source. Fabric also softens the boundary of the lit area, where a glass or metal shade would cut a hard edge into the floor.

It is made for a reading corner or the far end of a living room, where a warm pool of light does more than an even wash across the whole space. As the single warm object in a neutral room it earns its place; in a room already full of reds it will simply join them.
