Marble Table Lamp – Brown Italian Marble Base with Linen Shade

Brown Italian marble makes the base of this table lamp, and because marble is quarried stone rather than a moulded material, the veining runs differently through every one — the lamp that arrives will not match a photograph line for line. Above it sits a linen shade, pale against the darker stone. Those two parts are the whole design: a heavy stone column, a soft fabric drum, and nothing else competing for attention.

Marble is dense, so the base does the work of holding the lamp still — weight low down is what keeps a table lamp from travelling when a cord is pulled or the shade is knocked. Fabric rather than glass or metal means light passes through the walls of the shade as well as out of the top and bottom, so the lamp lights the surface it stands on instead of throwing a hard cone downward.
