Teak Outdoor Dining Chair – Solid Wood, Weather Resistant Finish
A dining chair in solid teak, with no upholstery and no second material. The whole chair is one timber, which means the shape has to carry it: the seat is contoured rather than flat, and the back is shaped, because there is no cushion to make up the difference between a good profile and a bad one.
Teak is used for outdoor furniture because of what is already inside the wood. Its natural oil content keeps water from penetrating the grain, and the same oils make it unattractive to the insects and fungi that break down other timbers left outside. Unfinished teak weathers from a warm honey brown to a pale silver-grey within a season or two of sun. That change is confined to the surface and can be sanded back if the original color is wanted.
It goes at an outdoor dining table and stays there through the season. Being solid wood and armless, it stacks against a wall easily in winter and takes no cushion storage. A pad can be added for long meals if a hard seat is not wanted.
