A dining chair cushion wears differently from a lounge cushion. It takes concentrated weight on a small area, over and over, as people sit down and get up through a meal, so it compresses at the center faster than a lounge cushion compresses across its whole surface. That is why cushions are sold separately at all: the chair frame will outlast several of them, and replacing the cushion is what keeps an otherwise sound chair in service.
