Wood Console Table – Rustic Oak, Pine or Weathered Veneer Finish

Six finishes across solid and veneered constructions: Sierra Rustic Natural, Weathered Wheat and Aged Black Pine on one side, and Rustic Grey, Smoked Black and Worn Oak veneers on the other. A console is a narrow table meant to sit against a wall, so its depth is the defining dimension rather than its length.

Veneer and solid wood suit different jobs on a console. A veneered top can carry a consistent figure across its full width, because the face is cut from one flitch, while solid stock has to be joined from boards and shows those joints. Solid takes a knock better and can be sanded; veneer cannot be sanded through. On a piece that sits against a wall and gets passed rather than worked on, that trade leans toward veneer more than it would on a dining table.

Behind a sofa, in a hallway, or under a mirror in an entry. A console's usefulness is holding keys and lamps without taking floor depth from a walkway.
