Velvet Throw Pillow – Tobacco, Chocolate or Olive, 20x20 and 16x24

Three Monte velvets are offered here, Tobacco, Chocolate and Olive, in either a 20-inch square or a 16 by 24 lumbar, sold as a cover alone or with the insert included. All three are dark and earthy and none is a jewel tone, which makes them easier to layer with wood and leather than a velvet in a saturated blue or green would be.

What velvet does that no flat weave manages is change value with viewing angle. Brush the pile one way and it darkens; brush it back and it lightens, because the standing fibers are either pointing toward the eye or away from it. On a cushion this shows up as a shifting map of where hands and shoulders have been, and it settles again when the pile is smoothed flat with a palm.

A single velvet cushion among linen or wool ones reads as the deliberate note in the group. The lumbar is the more practical shape for a chair that actually gets sat in; the square suits a sofa corner.
