Reclaimed Wood Planter – Burnt or Carbonized Black, Medium & Large

Reclaimed wood arrives with a history already in it, in the form of nail holes, weathering and saw marks from a previous life, and a planter is one of the few objects where that reads as appropriate rather than as damage. Two finishes push it further: Burnt Reclaimed, and Carbonized Black, which takes the charring considerably deeper. Medium and Large sizes are available.

Charring wood is among the oldest surface treatments there is, and it works because the burnt layer is no longer food for the fungi and insects that break timber down, while the carbon itself sheds water instead of drawing it in. That is a genuinely useful property in a planter, which spends its life against damp soil. The carbonized finish is the more thorough of the two and also produces the deeper, more even black.

Planters like this suit a patio, a porch, or an entrance where the wood is seen against masonry or render. Indoors they work as cachepots with a plastic grower's pot set down inside.
