Wall Mounted Coat Rack – Dark Brown Mahogany or Natural Oak Wood

A coat rack is one mounted unit rather than a scatter of separate hooks, and the difference is that it fixes the spacing for you. Everything hangs on a single line at a single height, which is what makes a rack look ordered where a group of individual hooks looks casual. Two woods are offered, at opposite ends of the tonal range: Dark Brown Mahogany and Natural Oak.

Choosing between them is partly a question of what the wall behind is doing. Natural oak against a pale wall nearly disappears into it and reads as a fitting. Dark mahogany against the same wall reads as a horizontal line drawn across it. Both are dense hardwoods, which is what a rack requires, since the load of a full row of coats travels through the fixings at either end rather than being spread along its length.

It goes in an entryway, a hallway, or a mudroom. Mounting height is the decision that matters most: high enough for a long coat to clear the floor, low enough to reach without stretching.
