Marble End Table – Textured Smoke and Russet on Aluminum Base

A single marble described as Textured Smoke and Russet, two colors in one stone, with smoke the grey field and russet the warmer brown running through it, set on an aluminum base. Textured rather than polished, so the surface is honed and matte instead of reflective.

A textured stone finish changes daily behavior more than it changes appearance. A matte, slightly open surface does not throw glare back under a lamp and does not show fingerprints the way a polished top does, but it will hold a spill in the texture rather than beading it on top. Aluminum underneath keeps the base light relative to the stone, so the weight sits in the top where it does the most for stability.

A two-tone stone is harder to place than a single color and better when it lands, since it can pick up both a grey and a warm brown already present in a room.
