Italian Glass Table Lamp – Orange, White, Yellow or Pink Body

The body is Italian glass in Orange, White, Yellow or Pink — saturated colors rather than tints, so the glass reads as a solid colored form in daylight instead of as something transparent. Colored glass at this intensity is a decorative decision first: the lamp is a block of color in the room whether or not it is switched on.

Colored and clear glass behave quite differently once lit. Clear glass simply passes light through; a saturated body absorbs some wavelengths and transmits others, so the light leaving an orange body is warmer than the source that produced it and the light leaving a pink body is noticeably softer. Glass is also non-porous, so a colored glass body cannot stain or discolor with age the way a dyed fabric or a painted surface eventually does.

It suits a console, a shelf or a bedside table in a room where one strong color is wanted and everything around it is kept quiet. White is the exception among the four, and it is the choice if the form rather than the color is the reason for buying it.
