Hand Knotted Wool Area Rug – Olive or Ivory Colorway, Up to 12x15

Two colorways at opposite ends of the range: Olive, a deep muted green, and Ivory, a warm off-white. The rug is hand knotted in wool and comes in four sizes topping out at 12' x 15'. The two options are not variations on one idea. One darkens a floor and the other lightens it, and they suit different rooms rather than different tastes.

A hand knotted rug carries its color inside the pile rather than on top of it, and that is what separates the two options in practice. Olive is the more forgiving on a busy floor, since a mid-depth green absorbs marks that would register on Ivory. Ivory asks more of the construction: with no depth to hide behind, the knot work has to stay even across the full width, or the field looks patchy in raking light.

The 12' x 15' covers a large open room close to wall to wall. Below it, 8' x 10', 9' x 12' and 10' x 14' fit conventional living and dining spaces. Ivory suits a bedroom. Olive holds up better in a room that takes shoes.
