Teak Root Outdoor Coffee Table – Saddle Brown Stained Finish

A coffee table cut from a teak root, stained Saddle Brown. A root table is not built from boards. It is a single piece of the tree's root mass, cut and levelled top and bottom, so the outline, the hollows and the grain are whatever that particular root happened to be. No two are the same shape.

Root wood is denser and more tangled in grain than trunk timber, because it grew under compression and around obstacles rather than straight up. That makes it heavy and very hard to split, which is why root pieces survive outdoors as furniture. The Saddle Brown stain darkens the natural color and evens the tone across a surface that would otherwise vary widely between the dense and open parts of the grain.

It works in front of a sofa or sectional as the center of a lounge group. Because the shape is irregular, it belongs where it can be seen from all sides rather than pushed against a wall.
