Concrete & Reclaimed Teak Outdoor Dining Table – Patio Dining

A dining table combining a concrete element with reclaimed teak. Reclaimed timber and cast concrete are an unusual pairing because both carry visible history: the teak has old nail holes and filled joints from a previous life, and cast concrete records the mold it was poured into.

The two materials also handle an outdoor dining table's two problems separately. Concrete gives the table mass, which is what keeps a large table stable on uneven paving, and it does not mark from a hot dish set down without a trivet. Reclaimed teak brings the part people touch: already fully seasoned from decades of use, so it moves less than new timber, and still carrying the natural oils that keep water out of the grain.

It goes on a terrace or a courtyard as the main dining table. The concrete makes it heavy, so decide its position before it is assembled rather than after.
