Concrete & Teak Outdoor Coffee Table – Light Grey Top

A coffee table pairing a light grey concrete top with teak below it. The two materials are doing opposite jobs visually: concrete gives the table a flat, cool, heavy surface, and the teak underneath warms it and lifts it off the ground so the mass does not sit as a solid block.

Mixing the two is also a practical division. Concrete takes the top because it does not mark from heat, does not swell with rain and can be hosed down. Teak takes the frame because it can be cut to slender sections without failing outdoors and because it needs no finish. The joint between them is where an outdoor table of two materials is worth checking over the years, since the two expand and contract at different rates through a season.

It goes at the center of a lounge group. The concrete top means it can carry wet glasses without coasters, which is not something most timber-topped outdoor tables tolerate.
