Solid Oak Wall Hanger – Peg Coat Rack in Natural or Black Oak

A peg rack is the simplest wall storage there is: a horizontal rail with pegs turned into it, no hooks, no moving parts, nothing to break. This one is solid oak in either Natural or Black, and the difference between the two runs deeper than color. Natural oak shows its grain plainly. The black finish keeps the grain visible but drops the contrast, so the rack reads as a line on the wall rather than as a length of timber.

Oak is a ring-porous hardwood, which is why its grain shows as strong alternating bands instead of a fine even figure. It is also dense and stiff, and stiffness is the property that matters most in a peg rack, because a peg is a cantilever and every coat hung on it works to lever it out of the rail.
