Striped Boucle Outdoor Pillow – 20x20 and 16x24, Cover or Insert

Tarbett Stripe puts a stripe into boucle, which is harder to do than printing one onto a flat cloth. The looped surface blurs any hard edge, so the line reads soft and slightly broken rather than graphic. Two shapes are available, a 20-inch square and a 16 by 24 lumbar, both offered as a cover alone or filled.

Loop-textured cloth intended for outdoor use has a particular problem to solve, since every loop is somewhere water can sit and grit can lodge. Fabric built for the job sheds rather than absorbs, and holds its color through sun that would pull a stripe's contrast apart within one summer by fading the darker yarn faster than the lighter one.

On outdoor seating the texture matters more than it would indoors, because most patio furniture is hard-surfaced and there is nothing else soft to look at. Indoors the pair works on a sofa without reading as patio furniture that wandered in.
