Marble Table Lamp – Powder-Coated Black or White, Bedside

The pairing is deliberate: stone is irregular and veined, powder-coated metal is flat and completely even, and putting the two together makes each one more obvious than either would be alone. In black the contrast runs hardest; in white the two materials come close to merging.

Powder coat goes on as a dry powder and is then baked, so it bonds as one continuous skin with no brush edges and no runs. On a bedside lamp — handled in the dark by someone half awake — that matters more than it sounds, because the finish takes knocks against a headboard without flaking back from the corners. The marble is left uncoated and stays as it was cut, which also means it will take a water ring if a glass is set down on it.
