Linen Table Lamp – Iridescent Acid Wash Shade, Bedside & Console

The shade is linen given an iridescent acid wash, a treatment that leaves the fabric shifting in color as the viewing angle changes rather than holding one flat tone. Acid washing acts on the fibre itself rather than sitting on top of it as a coating, which is why the effect survives handling and cannot scuff off as a surface film would. Linen takes the treatment unevenly because the yarn varies in thickness along its length, and that unevenness is exactly what produces the iridescence — a perfectly uniform fabric would simply come out one color.

It suits a console or a nightstand in a room that is otherwise plain, where a shifting surface has something quiet to play against. In a busy or heavily patterned room the iridescence competes rather than reads. It is best placed where it will be walked past, since movement is what activates it.
