Handwoven Rattan Wall Lamp – Bamboo Shade, Bedroom & Hallway Sconce

The weaving is the whole character of it: the shade is built from individual strands worked over and under one another, so its surface is a grid of solid material and open gaps rather than a continuous skin. Being handwoven, the tightness of the weave varies a little across every shade.

Those gaps are what make a woven shade behave unlike any solid one. Light escapes through every opening, so the fixture throws a field of small bright points onto the wall and ceiling around it rather than a smooth pool, and that pattern is a direct map of the weave itself.
