Wool Area Rug – Neutral Ricotta or Rye Colorway, 5x8 to 10x13

Ricotta and Rye are both pale, and the difference between them is temperature rather than depth. Ricotta is a soft white with a cool cast to it. Rye holds the same lightness but carries it toward wheat and gold. Either one keeps a floor quiet, which is most of what a large rug in a neutral colorway is asked to do.

Wool is worth its cost in a pale colorway specifically because of how it holds dye. Color goes into the fiber during processing rather than being printed onto a finished surface, so a light ground does not grey out along a walkway or fade unevenly in the band where afternoon sun crosses the floor. That is the failure mode that ends most pale rugs, and it is a surface-dye problem rather than a wear problem.

Four sizes span 5'7" x 7'10" to 9'10" x 13'2". The two larger ones are the sizes that work in a dining room, where the rug has to extend far enough past the table that a chair stays on it when pushed back from the edge.
