Wood Framed Floor Mirror – Mahogany or Oak, 75 or 78.5 Inch

Two heights are offered, 75 inches and 78.5, and the three and a half inches between them count for more than they sound on a floor mirror, where the top edge either clears the head of the person standing in front of it or does not. Two woods are available: Dark Brown Mahogany and Natural Oak.

Wood is the one frame material that keeps moving after it is made. Both mahogany and oak expand and contract with the humidity of a room across a year, and a mirror frame has to be built to absorb that movement without passing it into glass, which does not move at all. That is why a wood-framed mirror holds its glass rather than fixing it rigidly. The two timbers differ in figure more than in behavior: oak shows strong alternating bands, mahogany a finer and more even grain.

A wood frame is the warmest of the floor-mirror options and the one most likely to sit alongside furniture already in a bedroom. Both heights lean rather than hang.
