Oak Wall Rack – Wall Mounted Storage for Entryway and Mudroom

An oak rack fixed to a wall is storage that adds nothing to the floor, which is the only real argument for it in an entryway where floor space is already the constraint. There is one version and nothing to select between, so what is being bought is the rack itself rather than a configuration of it.

Oak is the standard timber for anything loaded and unloaded every day. It is a dense, ring-porous hardwood, hard enough to shrug off the dents that bags and boots knock into it, and it holds a screw thread under repeated load instead of working loose the way a softwood eventually does. Its grain also reads clearly enough to be worth leaving visible, which is why oak generally gets finished rather than painted.

Entryways and mudrooms are the intended rooms, though the same rack works in a laundry or above a desk. Fixing into studs rather than into plasterboard alone is what determines how much it can safely carry.
