Walnut Floor Lamp – Natural Wood with Glass & Brass Accents

Walnut is a dark hardwood whose grain runs in wide, wavering bands rather than tight straight lines, and left natural rather than stained, it keeps the color range that runs from near-chocolate heartwood out to the paler sapwood at the edge of the board.

Three materials means three different aging behaviors, which is worth knowing before it comes into a room. Walnut lightens slightly under years of daylight. Brass, if left unlacquered, dulls from bright yellow toward a browner tone as it oxidizes. Glass does neither and stays exactly as it began. The lamp will not look identical in five years, and that change comes from the materials themselves rather than from a coating breaking down over them.
