Ceramic Wall Hanging – Speckled Cream or Terracotta Wall Decor

This is ceramic made to hang rather than to hold anything, which puts it closer to a relief panel than to a vessel. Two finishes are offered: Speckled Cream, where darker flecks break through a pale glaze, and Terracotta, which is the fired clay color itself with nothing over it. The speckle is the more interesting of the two up close, since it changes what the piece looks like from three feet away against what it looks like across a room.

Speckling in a glaze comes from iron particles in the clay body burning through the surface during firing, so the pattern is produced by the kiln rather than applied by hand and no two pieces distribute it identically. Fired ceramic is also dimensionally stable, meaning it will not warp on a wall the way a wood panel can in a room that swings between damp and dry across a year.

It suits a wall that needs weight but not another framed picture: above a console, in a stairwell, or grouped with two or three others hung at different heights. Ceramic is heavier than it looks, so the fixing matters.
