Wood Tabletop Photo Frame – Teak or Black Walnut, 9x13 to 25x30 cm

Six sizes run from 9 by 13 centimeters up to 25 by 30, covering everything from a small snapshot on a desk to a print large enough to hold a shelf on its own. Two woods are offered: Teak, which is golden-brown and warm, and Black Walnut, which is considerably darker and more purple-brown in tone.

Teak and walnut end up in frames for different reasons. Teak carries natural oils within the timber, which is why it holds its color and resists moisture without much finishing applied over it. Walnut is chosen for figure, since the grain moves and pools in ways that make each frame slightly unlike the next, and it is dimensionally stable, which matters in a frame because a rail that warps will not sit flat on a shelf or hold a print square.

These stand rather than hang, so they belong on a desk, a shelf, or a mantel. Mixing the two woods across a group of different sizes usually reads better than matching all of them.
