Bohemian Sunburst Wall Mirror – Metal Frame Round Accent Mirror

A sunburst mirror puts its whole design outside the glass. Rays extend from a round central mirror, so the reflective part stays small and the piece works closer to a wall sculpture that happens to reflect than to a mirror with a decorative edge. The frame is metal, in one version with nothing to select.

Metal is the only sensible material for radiating spokes, because each ray is a thin cantilever held at one end and wood or resin at that section would either flex or snap off. Metal also keeps the total weight down despite the diameter, which matters for a piece spanning considerably more wall than its single fixing point suggests. That overall span, not the size of the glass, is what determines the wall it needs.

It goes above a mantel, a console, or a bed, and it wants empty wall around it in a way a plain round mirror does not. Against a flat wall the shadow the rays throw becomes part of the effect.
