Cast aluminum, finished as Black Antique or Dark Aluminum. Casting is what makes the form possible: molten metal takes the shape of the mold, so the table can carry curves and changes of thickness that would have to be welded together were it fabricated from sheet.

Aluminum is light for a metal, which changes what a cast table feels like to pick up: substantial to look at, easy to move. It also does not rust, so the finish is doing an aesthetic job rather than a protective one. Black Antique is the darker and more worked of the two; Dark Aluminum leaves more of the raw metal showing through, so the cast surface texture stays visible.

End tables get moved more often than coffee tables do, and a light one is easier to live with. This works at the end of a sofa or pulled up beside a chair.
