Striped Glass Pendant Light – Green, White or Amber with Brass

A glass pendant with stripes worked into the shade, in Green, White or Amber, hung on brass. Striping in glass is formed while the glass is being made rather than printed on afterwards, so the lines run through the thickness of the material and read from inside and out. Lit, they appear as alternating bands of brighter and dimmer glass.

That banding is the practical consequence of the technique. Where the stripe is denser the glass passes less light, so the shade throws a pattern of light and shadow rather than an even wash across the surface below. Amber warms what it transmits, Green cools and tints it, and White keeps the light neutral while still showing the stripe as texture. The brass will age slightly over the years while the glass stays exactly as it began.

It suits a kitchen island, a dining table or a bar, hung at a height where the stripes on the lower half of the shade are visible from a seated position rather than only from standing.
