Jute Accent Rug – Small Entryway Size, Charcoal or Natural

Two small formats, both under five feet on the long side: a 2' x 3'3" that sits square in front of a door, and a narrow 1'8" x 4'7" closer in proportion to a short runner. Jute in either Charcoal or Natural. The Natural is left near the fiber's own straw color; the Charcoal is taken down to a dark grey that shows less of what gets walked across it.

Jute is a bast fiber, spun from the stalk of the plant rather than the seed or the leaf, which is why it comes out coarse and rope-like instead of soft. That coarseness is the point in an accent rug this size. The surface has enough tooth to take grit off the bottom of a shoe, and the fiber is stiff enough that the rug holds its rectangle rather than rucking up when a door sweeps over it.

The 2' x 3'3" suits an entry, a back door, or the floor beside a bed. The longer 1'8" x 4'7" fits a galley kitchen run or the strip along a sink. Jute is a dry-floor fiber, so keep it out of a bathroom or an uncovered porch.
