Wool & Jute Runner Rug – Natural & Black, Hallway & Entryway

A runner in two lengths: 2'7" x 6' for a short entry or a galley kitchen, 3' x 8' for a longer hall. The blend is wool and jute in a single Natural and Black colorway. Jute supplies the pale straw ground, wool carries the black, and from standing height the contrast between the two reads as pattern rather than as a printed motif.

Jute and wool wear differently, and that is the reason for blending them. Jute is stiff and takes abrasion well, which is what a hallway asks of a rug: the same three feet of floor crossed a hundred times a day. Wool is the softer of the two and springs back from compression. Together the runner absorbs traffic without matting into a shiny path down the middle.

Entry halls, the strip in front of a kitchen sink, the corridor between bedrooms. A runner generally wants a few inches of bare floor showing on each side rather than wall-to-wall coverage, which is why both widths here stay under three feet.
